Vietnam Visa for Chilean Citizens: 90 Days Without a Visa, Then the E-Visa
Vietnam visa for Chilean citizens: no visa for 90 days or less. Longer stays need a visa; the e-visa costs from $47 (approx. CLP 46,138). Santiago cut-offs.
Chilean citizens with an ordinary passport do not need a visa for a stay of 90 days or less, so the Vietnam visa for Chilean citizens only matters when you plan to stay longer. Then the standard route is the e-visa, valid for up to 90 days and from $47 (approx. CLP 46,138) all-in through us for single entry. This page covers the 90-day rule, when an e-visa is needed, prices in Chilean pesos, urgent cut-offs in Santiago time, the steps, documents, visa on arrival and the embassy. You can apply for your e-visa with us in about ten minutes.
Santiago is ten or eleven hours behind Vietnam, so the Vietnamese working day runs from your evening to your early morning. With 90 days visa-free, most Chileans never need an e-visa, but the cut-offs matter for the few who do.

Do Chilean citizens need a visa for Vietnam?
No, not for 90 days or less. Chilean citizens with an ordinary passport can enter Vietnam without a visa for up to 90 days, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs list (published June 30, 2025, checked October 2026), which marks Chile for diplomatic, service and ordinary passports.
You still need a valid passport and a ticket out. Our page on Vietnam visa exemption rules lists every country covered.
How the 90-day exemption works
A Chilean traveler needs a visa only when the stay goes past 90 days, or when the purpose is work or long study. The rule is a two-way agreement, so it has no end date the way Vietnam's unilateral resolutions do.
Chile and Panama are the only countries whose ordinary passports get 90 days in Vietnam, the longest visa-free stay on the Ministry's list. The list does not say how the days are counted, so plan the dates conservatively.
When Chilean citizens need a visa for Vietnam
Travelers from Chile need a Vietnam e-visa only for a stay longer than 90 days or for a purpose the exemption does not cover, such as work.
Apply before you fly: the e-visa lets you stay up to 90 days, with single or multiple entry, under Law 23/2023/QH15.
In practice that means a long study or volunteer stay, a job, or a trip that starts visa-free and then runs past three months, which needs a new entry rather than an extension. A 90-day e-visa costs no more than a 30-day one through us.

Urgent cut-offs in Santiago time
Standard takes 5 to 7 working days. The urgent speeds use Vietnamese working days, which start at 8:00 in Vietnam: 22:00 in Santiago during summer time and 21:00 in winter. Chile uses summer time from early September to early April.
| Order cut-off | Santiago, standard time | Santiago, summer time |
|---|---|---|
| Same day (Vietnam 14:15) | 3:15 | 4:15 |
| Super Urgent (Vietnam 15:30) | 4:30 | 5:30 |
| Emergency (Vietnam 17:30) | 6:30 | 7:30 |
| 1 working day (Vietnam 18:00) | 7:00 | 8:00 |
Example in summer time: you order on Monday at 23:00 in Santiago, which is 9:00 on Tuesday in Vietnam. Emergency arrives by 0:30 on Tuesday, Super Urgent by 1:30 on Tuesday and Same day by 8:00 on Tuesday, all in Santiago time. Ordered on Tuesday at 6:00 instead (16:00 in Vietnam), Emergency still arrives by 7:30, but Super Urgent and Same day have passed their cut-offs: Super Urgent arrives on Wednesday at 1:00 and Same day on Wednesday at 4:00.
The weekend window starts at Friday 8:00 in Santiago in summer time (7:00 in standard time) and ends on Sunday at 6:00 (5:00). In that window, order the Weekend and public holidays speed before 5:20 in summer time and it arrives by 8:30 the same day. Our urgent e-visa page has every speed in Vietnam time.

Vietnam visa on arrival for Chilean citizens
Chilean citizens rarely need visa on arrival: a stay of 90 days or less needs no visa, and a longer one is simpler with an e-visa.
Visa on arrival works only at Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Cam Ranh airports, with an approval letter before you board and a $25 or $50 stamping fee; you can compare both when you choose a service.
Vietnam embassy in Chile
You do not need an embassy for an e-visa, which is issued online, or for a stay of 90 days or less. Our page on the Vietnam embassy in Chile has its address and contacts.
Tips for Chilean travelers
Two points help Chilean travelers: what the 90 days do not cover, and the clock.
Work and long study are not covered
The 90 days cover tourism, family visits and short business trips. A job, a paid internship or a study program needs the matching visa, arranged before you travel, even if you will stay less than 90 days.
Order in the evening, Chilean time
Ordered at 9:00 in the morning in Santiago, your file reaches Vietnam after every urgent cut-off. Ordered at 21:00 instead, Vietnam is starting its working day, and every speed is open. Chile's summer time runs from early September to early April, so check which column of the table applies.
eVisaVietnam.com is a private visa service operated by TK VIET NAM., JSC, not the Vietnamese government. You can apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn for US$25. If you want your files checked and a delivery time backed by a full refund, apply for your e-visa with us.
