Vietnam Visa Official Website

The Vietnam visa official website is evisa.gov.vn ($25). How to spot fake sites, check a real e-visa, and when a private service is worth paying for.

How to apply Vietnam evisa

The Vietnam visa official website is evisa.gov.vn, run by the Vietnam Immigration Department under the Ministry of Public Security. A single-entry e-visa costs US$25 there and a multiple-entry e-visa US$50. eVisaVietnam.com is a private visa service operated by TK VIET NAM., JSC, not the Vietnamese government, and you can apply for your e-visa with us if you want a document check and a delivery time backed by a full refund. This guide shows how to spot fake sites, what applying yourself involves, when an agency is worth paying for, and how the two routes compare.

The same government system also answers at a second address with a Vietnamese name. We opened both addresses on October 8, 2026 and found the same site behind each. Our own domain looks a lot like evisa.gov.vn, which is why we start with how to tell them apart.

Official Vietnam e-visa channels:

Address What it is What you can do there
evisa.gov.vn Vietnam National Electronic Visa system Apply, pay the fee, check status, download the e-visa
thithucdientu.gov.vn Same system ("thị thực điện tử" means e-visa) Same as evisa.gov.vn

Which is the Vietnam visa official website?

evisa.gov.vn is the only website where the Vietnamese government accepts e-visa applications and fees directly. thithucdientu.gov.vn opens the same system. Every other domain selling a Vietnam e-visa, including ours, is a private company.

A Vietnam government visa is issued only by the Vietnam Immigration Department. A legitimate agency fills in the same government form, pays the same fee and sends you the PDF the government produces, which is why that e-visa is valid at the border.

On evisa.gov.vn, the official Vietnam e-visa website, you do everything yourself and pay only the fee. An agency charges extra to check, submit and follow up; the visa is the same.

How to spot a fake or look-alike visa website

A Vietnam visa website belongs to the government only if its address ends in .gov.vn. Anything ending in .com, .org, .net or a plain .vn is private, however much it looks like a government site. Fake Vietnam visa sites fall into two groups: agencies that hide what they are, and scams that take money and deliver nothing.

The Embassy of Vietnam in Canada published a notice on October 21, 2023 listing look-alike domains that mix words such as "viet" and "embassy" with visa terms. The embassy takes no responsibility for travelers refused boarding or entry with visas from unofficial services.

Red flags on the page

Any of these signs means a site is not the government and may not be honest about it:

  • Government styling without a company name: A national emblem, red and gold colors or the word "official" next to the government's name, but no legal company name or address anywhere.
  • A price far above $25 with no breakdown: The page does not separate the government fee from the service fee.
  • "Guaranteed approval": Only the Vietnam Immigration Department decides; no one can promise approval.
  • An ad at the top of the results: Look-alike sites pay for ads on government-related searches, so the first result is often a paid one.
  • No refund terms: You cannot find what happens if the visa is refused or late.

Our name is close to the government's too, which is why every page of eVisaVietnam.com says we are a private service and gives our company name and address.

How to check an e-visa you already received

You can check any Vietnam e-visa on evisa.gov.vn with the "Check application status and download e-Visa" function: enter the registration code, the application email and your date of birth. A genuine e-visa appears there with the same details as your PDF.

If the agency never gave you a registration code, ask for it. An agency that submitted a real application has one for every traveler.

If you paid a site you now doubt

First check whether an application exists, as described above. If it does and the details are correct, your e-visa is valid whatever you paid.

If no application exists, contact your card issuer to dispute the charge and keep screenshots of the site and your payment. Then apply again on evisa.gov.vn or through a service that names its company.

Applying yourself on evisa.gov.vn: cost, time and common problems

Applying yourself on evisa.gov.vn costs US$25 for single entry or US$50 for multiple entry, and the site's FAQ gives 3 working days for processing (checked October 2026). The process has five parts:

  1. Prepare a passport photo page scan and a recent portrait photo.
  2. Fill in the online form with your personal, passport and trip details.
  3. Save the registration code the site gives you.
  4. Pay the fee by card through the site's payment gateway.
  5. Check the status with your code and download the PDF when approved.

Our guide on how to apply walks through each screen, and the e-visa requirements page covers documents and photo rules. Still deciding the visa type? Compare e-visa or visa on arrival.

Two points catch people out. The government states on evisa.gov.vn that the fee "is non-refundable in case the visa is not granted", so a refusal caused by a rejected photo costs you the $25 and the time. And the site offers a support form rather than a phone line you can call about a single file. Photo errors, payment failures and other snags are covered in common problems when applying yourself.

For most people with a clean photo and two weeks before the trip, applying yourself works well. The trade-off changes when time is short or something has already gone wrong.

When a private visa service makes sense

Whether to apply for a Vietnam visa yourself vs through an agency comes down to one test: is a mistake or delay likely to cost more than the service fee? Four situations say yes:

  • Your flight is within a week: Working days skip weekends and public holidays. A service can deliver the same day or within hours, with a refund if the e-visa arrives late.
  • Your photo or scan keeps failing: A person checks the files before submission instead of the system rejecting them after payment.
  • You want someone to answer: A person on WhatsApp during support hours, instead of a form.
  • You want a refund if it goes wrong: The government fee is not refunded on refusal; a service with written refund terms carries that risk for you.

If none applies, applying on evisa.gov.vn is cheaper and just as valid. If one does, you can choose a service on our comparison page.

How to judge any visa agency

A legit Vietnam visa agency tells you who it is before it takes your money: a registered company name and a street address on the page.

Also look for a price that separates the government fee from the service fee, written terms for refusals and late delivery, and a registration code for every traveler after submission. Missing any of these is a reason to look elsewhere, including at us.
