How to Correct Vietnam Visa Errors
How to correct Vietnam visa errors: edit free before it is issued, or use Update E-Visa ($65) for a wrong name, passport number, date of birth or entry date.
To learn how to correct Vietnam visa errors, first check whether the e-visa has been issued. Before it is issued, you can still edit the application yourself at no cost. After it is issued, a wrong name, date of birth, passport number or entry date needs a corrected e-visa, which our Update E-Visa service provides from $65. The form is on this page, and you can also choose a service if you are not sure which one fits.
eVisaVietnam.com is a private visa service operated by TK VIET NAM., JSC, not the Vietnamese government. You can contact the Vietnam Immigration Department yourself, as explained below; we offer a faster route for travelers who fly soon.

Which mistakes can be corrected?
Wrong information on a Vietnam e-visa can usually be corrected when it is a typing error in the name, date of birth, passport number or entry date. The table shows what to do for each.
| Mistake | Fixable? | What to do |
|---|---|---|
| Name misspelled | Yes | Update E-Visa with a passport scan |
| Date of birth wrong | Yes | Update E-Visa with a passport scan |
| Passport number wrong | Yes | Update E-Visa with a passport scan |
| Entry date wrong | Yes | Update E-Visa; see how to change your entry date |
| Entry gate wrong | Ask us | Message us on WhatsApp and we will explain the options |
| E-visa refused | Not a correction | Apply again; see what to do with a refused e-visa |
To amend a Vietnam e-visa with a wrong name, send a passport scan with the order. Among the common Vietnam e-visa mistakes, a swapped letter in the name and a mistyped passport number cause the most trouble at check-in, because the airline compares the e-visa with your passport. Our page on wrong name or passport number covers each type of error.
Can I edit my Vietnam e-visa after submission?
Before the e-visa is issued, yes in one case: when the status is "Amendment required", you search for the application with your registration code, change what is asked and send it back. Once the e-visa is issued, the application is closed and cannot be edited online.
The Embassy of Vietnam in India says on its e-visa page that embassies do not make corrections or changes to issued e-visas, and points travelers to the Vietnam Immigration Department at [email protected] (as of October 2026). Our guide to e-visa problems and fixes and the page to check your e-visa status show how to tell which stage you are at.
If the application is still processing and the details are wrong, waiting does not fix the mistake. You can expedite a pending e-visa only when the details are right; for wrong details, a new application with the correct ones is the better route.

What to check before you fly
Check your e-visa against your passport before you leave for the airport: the name letter by letter, the date of birth, the passport number and the entry date. Airlines ask for the e-visa PDF at check-in, and a mismatch is more likely to stop you at the desk than at the border.
If you find a mistake while you are at the airport, see our checklist for denied boarding over a Vietnam visa. Also note that a correction is separate from changing your flight: if the entry date is the only issue, read about how to change it.
Guides for each type of mistake
Each guide covers one case in more detail.
- Entry date: Change your entry date, including arriving earlier or later than the e-visa says.
- Name, birth date or passport number: Wrong name or passport number, with what happens at the border.
- Refusal: Refused e-visa, and when to apply again.
If you applied yourself and would like a person to check your documents next time, apply for your e-visa with us.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I fix a mistake after my e-visa is issued?
Not by editing the application, which is closed once the e-visa is issued. A wrong name, date of birth, passport number or entry date needs a corrected e-visa. Update E-Visa costs $65, or $85 for the weekend and public holiday option.
Does the embassy correct e-visas?
No. The Embassy of Vietnam in India states that embassies do not correct or change issued e-visas and refers travelers to the Vietnam Immigration Department. We handle corrections through Update E-Visa.
How much does Update E-Visa cost?
$65 for the Same day option, $85 for the Weekend and Public Holidays option. The price is for the update only; it does not change the original e-visa fee.
Can I change my Vietnam e-visa entry date?
Yes, through Update E-Visa. The entry date on the e-visa sets when you may enter, so correct it before you fly. Our guide on how to change it has the details.
What if my application was refused?
A refusal is not a typing error, so Update E-Visa does not apply. You apply again with correct details; the government fee on the first application is not refunded.
