Vietnam Visa for Irish Citizens
Vietnam visa for Irish citizens: you need a visa, usually the 90-day e-visa from $47 (approx. €42). Euro prices, Dublin cut-offs, steps for Ireland.
Irish passport holders need a visa for Vietnam, so the Vietnam visa for Irish citizens is the e-visa, valid for up to 90 days and from $47 (approx. €42) all-in through us for single entry. This differs from the United Kingdom, whose citizens get a 45-day stay without a visa; Ireland has no such rule. This page covers the e-visa, prices in euro, urgent cut-offs in Dublin time, the steps, documents, visa on arrival and the embassy. You can apply for your e-visa with us in about ten minutes.
Dublin is six or seven hours behind Vietnam, so the Vietnamese working day is nearly over by the time you wake up. That shapes which urgent speed still works when you order, and the cut-off table below is the part to check first.

Visa on arrival for Irish citizens
Irish citizens can use visa on arrival only when flying into Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang or Cam Ranh. You need an approval letter before you board and pay a $25 or $50 stamping fee at the airport.
It does not work for cruise ports or land borders. For most trips the e-visa is simpler; you can compare both when you choose a service.
Vietnam embassy in Ireland
Vietnam has an embassy in Ireland, but you do not need it for an e-visa, which is issued online. It handles passport-sticker visas for special-purpose stays; details are on our page about the Vietnam embassy in Ireland.
Tips for Irish travelers
Two mix-ups catch Irish travelers: reading the British rule as if it were theirs, and travelling on a different passport from the one on the e-visa.
Do not use the UK rule
Many guides list Ireland and the United Kingdom together, because they share a time zone and the Common Travel Area. For Vietnam they differ. British citizens can stay up to 45 days without a visa under Resolution 44/NQ-CP; Irish citizens are not covered. Read our page for British citizens only if you carry a British passport.
Dual Irish and British citizens
If you hold both passports, the passport you show at the border decides what you need. A British passport allows a stay of up to 45 days without a visa.
For a longer stay, or if you travel on your Irish passport, you need the e-visa. Enter the passport number you will travel on, because the e-visa is issued for one passport.
eVisaVietnam.com is a private visa service operated by TK VIET NAM., JSC, not the Vietnamese government. You can apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn for US$25. If you want your files checked and a delivery time backed by a full refund, apply for your e-visa with us.
