No. Indian citizens need a visa for mainland Vietnam. India is not on any of Vietnam's visa exemption lists: not the 45-day unilateral list, not the European tourism list and not the bilateral agreements published by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (checked October 2026).

The one exception is Phu Quoc island, covered in the tips below. For the rules for every nationality, see Do I need a visa for Vietnam?.

Processing time and urgent cut-offs in IST

Standard takes 5 to 7 working days; the urgent speeds depend on when you order. India Standard Time is 1 hour 30 minutes behind Vietnam all year, since neither country changes its clocks. The table converts each cut-off on a Vietnamese working day to IST.

SpeedOrder (IST)Delivered by (IST)
Same dayBefore 6:3012:30 the same day
Same day6:30 to 12:4416:30 the same day
Super Urgent6:30 to 14:002.5 working hours after your order
Emergency6:30 to 16:001.5 working hours after your order

Weekend and public holidaysBefore 13:5017:00 the same day

The Super Urgent and Emergency clocks pause for a lunch break, from 10:30 to 11:30 IST. Orders after the last cut-off move to the next working morning: Emergency to 8:00 IST, Super Urgent to 9:30 IST.

Example: you order at 11:00 IST on a Monday, 12:30 in Vietnam. Emergency arrives by 13:00 IST and Super Urgent by 14:00 IST. Same day arrives by 16:30 IST. If your flight is on Tuesday night, 1 working day at $99 arrives by 17:00 IST Tuesday and costs less. Our urgent e-visa page covers weekends and flights within hours.

Documents for a Vietnam visa for Indian citizens

The visa requirements for Indian citizens are the same as for every e-visa applicant:

  • Indian passport: Valid for at least 6 months from your entry date, with two blank pages.
  • Passport data page: A clear scan or phone photo, all four corners visible.
  • Portrait photo: Recent, white background, no glasses, jpg or jpeg.
  • Trip details: Entry date, entry and exit airport or gate, and your first hotel in Vietnam.
  • Card: A debit or credit card enabled for international online payments.

Enter your name exactly as in the two code lines at the bottom of the data page. Our page on e-visa requirements shows photo examples.

Vietnam visa on arrival for Indian citizens

Visa on arrival for Indian citizens works only for flights into Hanoi (Noi Bai), Ho Chi Minh City (Tan Son Nhat), Da Nang or Cam Ranh. You need an approval letter before you board, then pay a $25 or $50 stamping fee at the airport counter.

The e-visa is simpler for most Indian travelers: no airport queue, and it works at land borders. Compare both when you choose a service.

Vietnam embassy and consulate in India

Vietnam has an embassy in New Delhi and a consulate general in Mumbai (consulate website). You do not need either for an e-visa, which is issued online. They handle passport-sticker visas for longer or special-purpose stays; addresses and contacts are on our page about the Vietnam embassy in India.

Tips for Indian travelers

Two questions come up once the visa is sorted: whether Phu Quoc really needs no visa, and which e-visa fits a trip that includes Cambodia or Thailand.

Flying to Phu Quoc only

Foreigners, including Indian citizens, can stay on Phu Quoc island for up to 30 days without a visa under Law 51/2019/QH14. The exemption covers Phu Quoc only.

If you plan even one day on the mainland, apply for an e-visa before you fly; the conditions are on our page about the Phu Quoc entry rules.

Combining Vietnam with Cambodia or Thailand

Choose multiple entry if you will leave Vietnam and come back, for example Ho Chi Minh City, then Siem Reap, then Hanoi. If you leave once and fly home from another country, single entry is enough. Our page on the 90-day multiple-entry e-visa has more route examples.

eVisaVietnam.com is a private visa service operated by TK VIET NAM., JSC, not the Vietnamese government. You can apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn for US$25. If you want your documents checked and a delivery time backed by a full refund, apply for your e-visa with us.

On evisa.gov.vn the government fee is US$25 (approx. INR 2,418) for single entry and US$50 (approx. INR 4,836) for multiple entry, paid by card. The fee is not refunded if the e-visa is refused, so check your photo and passport scan before paying.
