Vietnam Visa for Children and Groups
Vietnam visa for children: a child with a passport needs their own e-visa, with a $25 government fee under 14. Group order limits and document checklist.
A Vietnam visa for children works like the adult one: a child with their own passport needs their own e-visa, and a child under 14 who is only written in a parent's passport is added to that parent's application. The government fee for a child under 14 is $25. This page covers the two passport cases, the fee, the documents, how many people fit in one order and the mistakes that cause refusals. When everyone's passports are ready, you can apply for your e-visa for the whole family in one order.
eVisaVietnam.com is a private visa service operated by TK VIET NAM., JSC, not the Vietnamese government. You can apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn for US$25 per applicant, and our guide to the evisa.gov.vn site explains how it differs from ours.

Vietnam visa for children: does a child need one?
Yes, unless the child's passport is on Vietnam's visa-free list and the stay fits the allowed days. Age does not exempt anyone: a baby with a passport from a country that needs a visa needs one too.
The e-visa itself is set by Law 23/2023/QH15 (checked October 2026). The rule follows the passport, not the person. Check your child's passport against the visa requirements by nationality, because a family can hold different passports. A parent with a visa-free passport and a child with a passport from a country that needs a visa is a common case.
Vietnam e-visa for children: own passport or parent's passport
A child with a passport of their own needs a separate e-visa, and a child written in a parent's passport is added to that parent's application. The e-visa is linked to a passport number, so the passport decides which case applies.
| Your child's passport | What to do |
|---|---|
| Their own passport | Apply for a separate e-visa with their passport page and photo |
| Written in a parent's passport, under 14 | Add the child to the parent's application |
| Has own passport, but also written in yours | Apply separately; do not add to yours |
On evisa.gov.vn, the form has a section for children under 14 who are listed in a parent's passport, and it tells applicants not to use it for a child who holds a separate passport. Our e-visa requirements page explains the same rule from the document side.
If the e-visa is for an adult with children in the passport, the application is still one e-visa. The child's details are in that approval, and both travel on it.
Vietnam visa fee for children
The government fee for a child under 14 is $25, whether the e-visa is single or multiple entry, under Circular 28/2026/TT-BTC (in force from April 1, 2026, checked October 2026). For adults, the government fee is $25 single and $50 multiple.
Through us the price is per person and does not change with age: a single-entry e-visa for a child costs from $47, the same as for an adult, with the government fee included. Multiple entry is from $82. The faster speeds cost more, as shown in the full price table.
We do not apply a child discount.
Documents and photo for a child's application
Each child with their own passport needs the same three things as an adult: a passport data page scan, a portrait photo and the trip details. The passport must be valid for at least 6 months from the entry date, with two blank pages.
The photo rules apply to children without exception: a new photo, facing the camera, with a white background, saved as jpg or jpeg under 2MB. See the e-visa photo rules for what the site rejects. Take the picture on the same day as the application, with the child sitting still and looking straight ahead.
This page does not cover rules for a child entering Vietnam without a parent or with only one. That is a matter for the airline and the border, so ask your airline what it needs before you fly.
Group Vietnam visa: how many people per order
One e-visa order holds up to 5 travelers, and the total is the number of travelers times the price per person. Every traveler in the order gets the same speed and the same delivery time.
| Product | Limit per order |
|---|---|
| New e-visa | Up to 5 travelers |
| Expedite a pending e-visa | Per-person price drops from the third traveler |
| Visa on arrival | One approval letter for up to 20 people |
For a group larger than 5, place more than one order. There is no group discount on a new e-visa. For an expedite order, the per-person price is lower from three travelers, so family groups of three or more pay less per person.
Visa on arrival suits a group flying into Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang or Cam Ranh together. We arrange the letter, and each person pays the stamping fee at the airport. Read e-visa or visa on arrival before you choose, or open our visa on arrival service.
Mistakes to avoid with families and groups
The two mistakes that cost families the most are both about passports.
- Adding a child with their own passport to a parent's application. The approval then lists the child, but it is tied to the parent's passport number. Apply again for the child, with their own passport.
- Forgetting a child who is written in your passport. If the child travels on your passport and is not in the application, they have no visa. Add them before you submit.
Other errors are the same as for adults, such as a name that does not match the passport. See our e-visa correction page for what you can fix after submission.
Order for everyone at once. Putting the family in a single order keeps the speed and delivery time the same for all, so no one waits behind another traveler.

Frequently Asked Questions
Do babies need a Vietnam visa?
Yes, if their passport is not on the visa-free list. Age does not matter. A baby with their own passport needs their own e-visa, and a baby written in a parent's passport is added to that parent's application.
Can I put my child on my e-visa if they have their own passport?
No. A child with a separate passport needs a separate e-visa. Adding them to your application leaves them without a valid visa at the airport.
Is the price different for children?
Not through us. Our all-in price is per person and the same for children and adults. The government fee for a child under 14 is $25.
How many people can I include in one order?
Up to 5 travelers in one e-visa order. For a larger group, place more than one order. One visa on arrival letter covers up to 20 people.
