Vietnam Visa for Indonesian Citizens: 14 Days Without a Visa, Then the E-Visa
Vietnam visa for Indonesian citizens: no visa for 14 days or less for tourism and family visits. Longer trips need the e-visa, from $47 (approx. IDR 840,814).
Indonesian citizens with an ordinary passport do not need a visa for a stay of 14 days or less for tourism and family visits, so the Vietnam visa for Indonesian citizens only matters when you plan to stay longer or travel for another purpose. Then the standard route is the e-visa, valid for up to 90 days and from $47 (approx. IDR 840,814) all-in through us for single entry. This page covers the 14-day rule, when an e-visa is needed, prices in Indonesian rupiah, urgent cut-offs in Jakarta time, the steps, documents, visa on arrival and the embassy. You can apply for your e-visa with us in about ten minutes.
If you are checking whether an Indonesian needs a visa for Vietnam, the rule changed in 2026: from July 15 the visa-free stay is 14 days, not 30. Jakarta keeps Vietnam's time all year.

Do Indonesian citizens need a visa for Vietnam?
Not for 14 days or less, if the trip is tourism or a family visit. Indonesian citizens with an ordinary passport can enter Vietnam without a visa for up to 14 days for tourism and family visits from July 15, 2026. Before that date the limit was 30 days.
The Indonesian embassy in Hanoi confirmed the change. The Ministry's list published on June 30, 2025 predates it, so older guides and tables can disagree. For a longer stay or another purpose, a Vietnamese visa is required. You still need a valid passport and a ticket out. Our page on Vietnam visa exemption rules lists every country covered.
How the 14-day exemption works
An Indonesian traveler needs a visa when the stay goes past 14 days or the purpose is not tourism or a family visit. The embassy cited the ASEAN Framework Agreement on Visa Exemption for Ordinary Passport Holders as the basis. The reports we found do not say how re-entry is counted, so plan the dates conservatively.
When Indonesian citizens need a visa for Vietnam
Whether travelers from Indonesia need a visa depends on the length and purpose of the stay: they need a Vietnam e-visa for any stay longer than 14 days and for any trip that is not tourism or a family visit, such as business.
Apply before you fly: the e-visa lets you stay up to 90 days, with single or multiple entry, under Law 23/2023/QH15.
Typical cases are a business trip, a three-week holiday, or a family visit that runs on. A 90-day e-visa costs no more than a 30-day one through us.

Urgent cut-offs in Jakarta time
Standard takes 5 to 7 working days. The urgent speeds use Vietnamese working days, which start at 8:00 in Vietnam, and Jakarta keeps the same time as Vietnam all year, so the table below shows the Vietnamese cut-offs unchanged.
Bali and the rest of central Indonesia run one hour ahead, and Papua two, so add that to each time.
| Order cut-off | Jakarta time |
|---|---|
| Same day | 14:15 |
| Super Urgent | 15:30 |
| Emergency | 17:30 |
| 1 working day | 18:00 |
Example: you order on Tuesday at 9:00 in Jakarta. Emergency arrives by 10:30, Super Urgent by 11:30 and Same day by 18:00, all in Jakarta time. Ordered on Tuesday at 16:00 instead, Emergency still arrives by 17:30, but Super Urgent and Same day have passed their cut-offs: Super Urgent arrives on Wednesday at 11:00 and Same day on Wednesday at 14:00.
The weekend window starts at Friday 18:00 in Jakarta and ends on Sunday at 16:00. In that window, order the Weekend and public holidays speed before 15:20 and it arrives by 18:30 the same day. Our urgent e-visa page has every speed in Vietnam time.

Photo examples and the full checklist are on our e-visa requirements page.
Vietnam visa on arrival for Indonesian citizens
Indonesian citizens have little reason to use visa on arrival: a stay of 14 days or less needs no visa, and a longer one is simpler with an e-visa.
Visa on arrival works only at Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Cam Ranh, with an approval letter obtained before you board and a $25 or $50 stamping fee at the airport. If you want to compare the options, you can choose a service.
Vietnam embassy in Indonesia
Vietnam has an embassy in Indonesia, but you do not need it for an e-visa, which is issued online, or for a stay of 14 days or less. Our page on the Vietnam embassy in Indonesia has the details.
Tips for Indonesian travelers
Two points help Indonesian travelers: the new 14-day limit, and the time zones inside Indonesia.
Old guides still say 30 days
Until July 14, 2026 the limit was 30 days, and many pages have not caught up.
Add an hour in Bali and two in Papua
The table uses Jakarta time. Bali and Makassar run one hour ahead of Jakarta, and Papua and Maluku two, so add that to each cut-off.
eVisaVietnam.com is a private visa service operated by TK VIET NAM., JSC, not the Vietnamese government. You can apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn for US$25. If you want your files checked and a delivery time backed by a full refund, apply for your e-visa with us.
