Visa on arrival for Marshallese citizens
Marshallese citizens can use visa on arrival only when flying into Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang or Cam Ranh. You need an approval letter before you board and pay a $25 or $50 stamping fee at the airport.
It does not work for cruise ports or land borders. For most trips the e-visa is simpler; you can compare both when you choose a service.
Vietnam embassy in the Marshall Islands
You do not need an embassy for an e-visa, which is issued online. For consular help, check the list of Vietnamese missions on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website (mofa.gov.vn) for the one that covers the Marshall Islands.
Tips for Marshallese travelers
Two points help Marshallese travelers: the US link that stops at the border, and ordering earlier in your day.
Freedom to enter the US does not carry over
Marshallese citizens can live and work in the United States under the Compact of Free Association, but that arrangement does not reach Vietnam. Vietnam looks only at the passport you show, and a Marshall Islands passport is on none of its exemption lists.
Order earlier in the day
Because Majuro runs ahead of Vietnam, the urgent cut-offs fall in your afternoon and evening: Same day closes at 19:15 and Emergency at 22:30. An order placed in the evening can miss Same day and Super Urgent, so order earlier in the day.
eVisaVietnam.com is a private visa service operated by TK VIET NAM., JSC, not the Vietnamese government. You can apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn for US$25. If you want your files checked and a delivery time backed by a full refund, apply for your e-visa with us.
