Vietnam Visa for Myanmar Citizens: 30 Days Without a Visa, Then the E-Visa

Vietnam visa for Myanmar citizens: no visa for 30 days or less. Longer trips need the e-visa, from $47 (approx. MMK 98,512). Myanmar kyat prices.

How to apply Vietnam evisa

Myanmar citizens with an ordinary passport do not need a visa for a stay of 30 days or less, so the Vietnam visa for Myanmar citizens only matters when you plan to stay longer. Then the standard route is the e-visa, valid for up to 90 days and from $47 (approx. MMK 98,512) all-in through us for single entry. This page covers the 30-day rule, when an e-visa is needed, prices in Myanmar kyat, urgent cut-offs in Yangon time, the steps, documents, visa on arrival and the embassy. You can apply for your e-visa with us in about ten minutes.

Yangon is half an hour behind Vietnam all year, so the Vietnamese cut-offs are close to the same on your clock. For a short trip no visa is needed; for a longer one, the cut-off table below shows which speed is still open.

Do Myanmar citizens need a visa for Vietnam?

No, not for 30 days or less. Myanmar citizens with an ordinary passport can enter Vietnam without a visa for a stay of up to 30 days, according to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs list published on June 30, 2025 and checked in October 2026.

You still need a valid passport and a ticket out. Some older guides still show 14 days, which is out of date. Our page on Vietnam visa exemption rules lists every country covered.

How the 30-day exemption works

A Myanmar traveler needs a visa only when the stay goes past 30 days. The rule is a bilateral arrangement, and recent guides and Myanmar's own list of visa-exemption partners give 30 days.

The sources we found do not say how the 30 days are counted or whether a second stay restarts them, so plan the dates conservatively.

When Myanmar citizens need a visa for Vietnam

Whether travelers from Myanmar need a visa depends on the length and purpose of the stay: they need a Vietnam e-visa for any stay longer than 30 days.

Apply before you fly: the e-visa lets you stay up to 90 days, with single or multiple entry, under Law 23/2023/QH15.

Typical cases are a long family visit, a working holiday, or a trip that begins as a short visit and runs on. A 90-day e-visa costs no more than a 30-day one through us.

Urgent cut-offs in Yangon time

Standard takes 5 to 7 working days. The urgent speeds use Vietnamese working days, which start at 8:00 in Vietnam, or 7:30 in Yangon.

Order cut-off Yangon time
Same day (Vietnam 14:15) 13:45
Super Urgent (Vietnam 15:30) 15:00
Emergency (Vietnam 17:30) 17:00
1 working day (Vietnam 18:00) 17:30

Example: you order on Tuesday at 8:30 in Yangon, which is 9:00 on Tuesday in Vietnam. Emergency arrives by 10:00, Super Urgent by 11:00 and Same day by 17:30, all in Yangon time. Ordered on Tuesday at 15:30 instead (16:00 in Vietnam), Emergency still arrives by 17:00, but Super Urgent and Same day have passed their cut-offs: Super Urgent arrives on Wednesday at 10:30 and Same day on Wednesday at 13:30.

The weekend window starts at Friday 17:30 in Yangon and ends on Sunday at 15:30. In that window, order the Weekend and public holidays speed before 14:50 and it arrives by 18:00 the same day. Our urgent e-visa page has every speed in Vietnam time.

Vietnam visa requirements for Myanmar citizens

For the e-visa, the requirements for Myanmar citizens match those for every applicant:

  • Passport data page: Full page in the frame, no glare on the code lines at the bottom.
  • Portrait: Recent, facing forward, white background, no glasses.
  • Trip details: Arrival and departure dates, entry and exit gates, first accommodation address.
  • Card: Debit or credit card that works for overseas online payments.

Photo examples and the full checklist are on our e-visa requirements page.

Vietnam visa on arrival for Myanmar citizens

Myanmar citizens have little reason to use visa on arrival: a stay of 30 days or less needs no visa, and a longer one is simpler with an e-visa.

Visa on arrival works only at Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Cam Ranh, with an approval letter obtained before you board and a $25 or $50 stamping fee at the airport. If you want to compare the options, you can choose a service.

Vietnam embassy in Myanmar

You do not need an embassy for an e-visa, which is issued online. For consular help, check the list of Vietnamese missions on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website (mofa.gov.vn) for the one that covers Myanmar. Our page on the Vietnam embassy in Myanmar collects the details.

Tips for Myanmar travelers

Two points help Myanmar travelers: the old 14-day figure, and the half-hour offset.

Ignore the old 14-day figure

Some pages and older articles still say Myanmar passport holders get 14 days. The Ministry's list and recent guides give 30. If your plan is for between 15 and 30 days, you need no visa.

The half-hour offset

Myanmar runs at UTC+6:30, so its cut-off times do not always fall on the hour: Same day is 13:45 and Super Urgent 15:00. Use the table above instead of subtracting an hour from the Vietnamese time.

eVisaVietnam.com is a private visa service operated by TK VIET NAM., JSC, not the Vietnamese government. You can apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn for US$25. If you want your files checked and a delivery time backed by a full refund, apply for your e-visa with us.
