Do Nigerian citizens need a visa for Vietnam?
Yes. Nigerian citizens with an ordinary passport need a visa for any stay in Vietnam, and the e-visa is the usual route.
Nigeria's row on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs exemption list (published June 30, 2025, checked October 2026) is marked under Diplomatic and under Official/Service/Special, with a 90-day stay. The Ordinary column is empty, and Nigeria is absent from the later 45-day lists.
One lookup site says Nigerians can stay 90 days without a visa; the Ministry's table shows no exemption for an ordinary passport. For the general rules, see Do I need a visa for Vietnam?

Visa on arrival for Nigerian citizens
Nigerian citizens can use visa on arrival only when flying into Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang or Cam Ranh. You need an approval letter before you board and pay a $25 or $50 stamping fee at the airport.
It does not work for cruise ports or land borders. For most trips the e-visa is simpler; you can compare both when you choose a service.
Vietnam embassy in Nigeria
You do not need an embassy for an e-visa, which is issued online. Our page on the Vietnam embassy in Nigeria has its address and contacts if you need consular help.
Tips for Nigerian travelers
Two points help Nigerian travelers: comparing naira quotes, and the diplomatic row.
Compare naira quotes with the dollar price
Travel agencies in Nigeria quote Vietnam visas in naira, often between NGN 60,000 and 80,000 for standard processing. Our Standard e-visa is $47, about NGN 62,586 at today's rate, government fee included. Ask any agency what its naira price includes before you compare.
Diplomatic and service passports are different
The 90-day stay on Nigeria's row of the exemption list belongs to diplomatic and service passports only. A holder of an ordinary Nigerian passport needs the e-visa, even if a colleague on a government mission enters without one.
eVisaVietnam.com is a private visa service operated by TK VIET NAM., JSC, not the Vietnamese government. You can apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn for US$25. If you want your files checked and a delivery time backed by a full refund, apply for your e-visa with us.
