Vietnam Visa for Russian Citizens: 45 Days Without a Visa, Then the E-Visa

Vietnam visa for Russian citizens: no visa for 45 days or less. Longer trips need the e-visa, from $47 (approx. RUB 3,911). Russian rubles prices.

How to apply Vietnam evisa

Russian citizens with an ordinary passport do not need a visa for a stay of 45 days or less, so the Vietnam visa for Russian citizens only matters when you plan to stay longer. Then the standard route is the e-visa, valid for up to 90 days and from $47 (approx. RUB 3,911) all-in through us for single entry. This page covers the 45-day rule, when an e-visa is needed, prices in Russian rubles, urgent cut-offs in Moscow time, the steps, documents, visa on arrival and the embassy. You can apply for your e-visa with us in about ten minutes.

Moscow is four hours behind Vietnam all year, so the Vietnamese working day ends in your early afternoon. Before you order an e-visa, check that your card works for payments abroad.

Do Russian citizens need a visa for Vietnam?

No, not for 45 days or less. Russian citizens can enter Vietnam without a visa for up to 45 days from the date of entry, whatever the passport type or purpose, under Resolution 44/NQ-CP (March 15, 2025 to March 14, 2028), as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs list and the national tourism authority state.

Russia's row on that table keeps bilateral lines for diplomatic and service passports, 90 days, and seaman's passports, 30 days; an ordinary Russian passport falls under the 45-day resolution. You still need a valid passport and a ticket out. Our page on Vietnam visa exemption rules lists every country covered.

How the 45-day exemption works

A Russian traveler needs a visa only when the stay goes past 45 days. Resolution 44/NQ-CP is a decision by the Vietnamese Government alone, covering 12 countries: Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, Norway, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden and the United Kingdom.

The condition is that you meet the normal entry rules, including a passport valid for at least six months and no entry ban. Before March 2025 the same 45 days came from Resolution 128/NQ-CP of August 2023, and before that the stay was 15 days, which is why some pages still quote 15. Russia has been on Vietnam's unilateral list since 2009, first with 15 days.

When Russian citizens need a visa for Vietnam

Travelers from Russia need a Vietnam e-visa for any stay longer than 45 days.

Apply before you fly: the e-visa lets you stay up to 90 days, with single or multiple entry, under Law 23/2023/QH15.

Typical cases are a winter stay in Nha Trang or Phu Quoc that runs past 45 days, a long family visit, or a remote-work stay. A 90-day e-visa costs no more than a 30-day one through us.

Urgent cut-offs in Moscow time

Standard takes 5 to 7 working days. The urgent speeds use Vietnamese working days, which start at 8:00 in Vietnam, or 4:00 in Moscow.

Order cut-off Moscow time
Same day (Vietnam 14:15) 10:15
Super Urgent (Vietnam 15:30) 11:30
Emergency (Vietnam 17:30) 13:30
1 working day (Vietnam 18:00) 14:00

Example: you order on Tuesday at 5:00 in Moscow, which is 9:00 on Tuesday in Vietnam. Emergency arrives by 6:30, Super Urgent by 7:30 and Same day by 14:00, all in Moscow time. Ordered on Tuesday at 12:00 instead (16:00 in Vietnam), Emergency still arrives by 13:30, but Super Urgent and Same day have passed their cut-offs: Super Urgent arrives on Wednesday at 7:00 and Same day on Wednesday at 10:00.

The weekend window starts at Friday 14:00 in Moscow and ends on Sunday at 12:00. In that window, order the Weekend and public holidays speed before 11:20 and it arrives by 14:30 the same day. Our urgent e-visa page has every speed in Vietnam time.

Vietnam visa requirements for Russian citizens

For the e-visa, the requirements for Russian citizens match those for every applicant:

  • Passport data page: Full page in the frame, no glare on the code lines at the bottom.
  • Portrait: Recent, facing forward, white background, no glasses.

Vietnam visa on arrival for Russian citizens

Russian citizens rarely need visa on arrival: a stay of 45 days or less needs no visa, and a longer one is simpler with an e-visa.

Visa on arrival works only at Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang and Cam Ranh airports, with an approval letter before you board and a $25 or $50 stamping fee; you can compare both when you choose a service.

Vietnam embassy in Russia

You do not need an embassy for an e-visa, which is issued online, or for a stay of 45 days or less. Our page on the Vietnam embassy in Russia has its address and contacts.

Tips for Russian travelers

Two points help Russian travelers: paying by card, and seaman's passports.

Cards issued in Russia may not work

Since 2022, Visa and Mastercard cards issued by Russian banks do not work for most payments outside Russia, and Mir cards are rarely accepted abroad. If you apply for an e-visa, with us or on evisa.gov.vn, use a card issued outside Russia, or ask someone abroad to pay.

Seaman's passports have their own row

A seaman's passport gets 30 days under the bilateral agreement, not 45. If you join or leave a ship in a Vietnamese port, check which passport the crew agency will use and how many days it covers.

eVisaVietnam.com is a private visa service operated by TK VIET NAM., JSC, not the Vietnamese government. You can apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn for US$25. If you want your files checked and a delivery time backed by a full refund, apply for your e-visa with us.
