Vietnam Visa for Samoan Citizens: E-Visa Cost in Tala and Steps

Vietnam visa for samoan citizens: you need a visa, usually the 90-day e-visa from $47 (approx. WST 129). Tala prices, Apia cut-offs.

How to apply Vietnam evisa

Samoan citizens with an ordinary passport need a visa for Vietnam, so the Vietnam visa for Samoan citizens is the e-visa, valid for up to 90 days and from $47 (approx. WST 129) all-in through us for single entry. Samoa is on none of Vietnam's exemption lists, so a Samoan passport gets no visa-free stay. This page covers the e-visa, prices in Samoan tala, urgent cut-offs in Apia time, the steps, documents, visa on arrival and the embassy. You can apply for your e-visa with us in about ten minutes.

Apia is six hours ahead of Vietnam all year, so the Vietnamese working day starts at 14:00 on your clock and Same day closes at 20:15. The cut-off table below shows which speed is still open when you order.

Do Samoan citizens need a visa for Vietnam?

Yes. Samoan citizens with an ordinary passport need a visa for any stay in Vietnam, and the e-visa is the usual route.

Samoa is not on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs exemption list (published June 30, 2025, checked October 2026), and it is not among the 12 countries added to the 45-day list by Resolution 229/NQ-CP, in force from August 15, 2025.

One lookup page says Samoans can get visa on arrival; that route needs an approval letter and works only at four airports, and the e-visa is simpler. For the general rules, see Do I need a visa for Vietnam?

Visa for Vietnam from Samoa: the e-visa

A visa for Vietnam from Samoa is nearly always the e-visa. It lets Samoan citizens stay up to 90 days, with single or multiple entry, under Law 23/2023/QH15. It covers holidays, family visits and short business trips.

Vietnam visa for Samoan citizens: urgent cut-offs in Apia time

Standard takes 5 to 7 working days. The urgent speeds use Vietnamese working days, which start at 8:00 in Vietnam, or 14:00 in Apia.

Order cut-off Apia time

Super Urgent (Vietnam 15:30) 21:30
Emergency (Vietnam 17:30) 23:30
1 working day (Vietnam 18:00) 0:00 (midnight, start of the next day)

Example: you order on Tuesday at 15:00 in Apia, which is 9:00 on Tuesday in Vietnam. Emergency arrives by 16:30, Super Urgent by 17:30 and Same day by 0:00 on Wednesday, all in Apia time. Ordered on Tuesday at 22:00 instead (16:00 in Vietnam), Emergency still arrives by 23:30, but Super Urgent and Same day have passed their cut-offs: Super Urgent arrives on Wednesday at 17:00 and Same day on Wednesday at 20:00.

The weekend window starts on Saturday at 0:00 in Apia (Friday 18:00 in Vietnam) and ends on Sunday at 22:00. Visa on arrival for Samoan citizens

Samoan citizens can use visa on arrival only when flying into Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang or Cam Ranh. You need an approval letter before you board and pay a $25 or $50 stamping fee at the airport.

It does not work for cruise ports or land borders. For most trips the e-visa is simpler; you can compare both when you choose a service.

Vietnam embassy in Samoa

You do not need an embassy for an e-visa, which is issued online. Vietnam's ambassador to New Zealand is also in charge of Samoa; a Samoan news site reported him presenting credentials in April 2026.

Tips for Samoan travelers

Two points help Samoan travelers: the six-hour gap, and the tala figures.

Midnight cut-offs

Because Apia runs ahead of Vietnam, the urgent cut-offs fall in your afternoon and evening: Same day closes at 20:15 and Emergency at 23:30. An order placed in the evening can miss Same day and Super Urgent, so order earlier in the day.

The 1 working day cut-off is midnight, which on your clock is the start of the next calendar day.

Tala figures are a guide

The table shows approximate tala prices at the mid-market rate on October 10, 2026. Your card is charged in US dollars, and your bank converts at its own rate, so your statement can differ.

eVisaVietnam.com is a private visa service operated by TK VIET NAM., JSC, not the Vietnamese government. You can apply yourself at evisa.gov.vn for US$25. If you want your files checked and a delivery time backed by a full refund, apply for your e-visa with us.
