Visa on arrival for Surinamese citizens

Surinamese citizens can use visa on arrival only when flying into Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Da Nang or Cam Ranh. You need an approval letter before you board and pay a $25 or $50 stamping fee at the airport.

It does not work for cruise ports or land borders. For most trips the e-visa is simpler; you can compare both when you choose a service.

Vietnam embassy in Suriname

You do not need an embassy for an e-visa, which is issued online. If you need consular help, the Embassy of Vietnam in Brazil in Brasília also covers Suriname, according to its own website.

Tips for Surinamese travelers

Two points help Surinamese travelers: the embassy that covers Suriname, and ordering at the right hour.

The embassy that covers Suriname is in Brasília

Vietnam's embassy in Brasília is responsible for Suriname as well as Peru, Bolivia and Guyana. Because the e-visa is issued online, most Surinamese travelers never need to contact it.

Order in the evening, not the morning

Ordered at 9:00 in the morning in Paramaribo, your file reaches Vietnam after every urgent cut-off and starts at 8:00 the next Vietnamese morning, which is 22:00 that evening in Paramaribo. Ordered at 22:00 instead, every speed is still open.
