Vietnam Visa Rejected What to Do: Causes, Reapplying and Fees

Vietnam visa rejected? Check likely causes from the photo to the passport, apply again with the fix, and see when the fee is refunded and when it is not.

How to apply Vietnam evisa

If your e-visa is refused, the answer to vietnam visa rejected what to do is the same in every case: find the cause, fix it and apply again, because a refusal is not a typing error that a correction can repair. This page shows how to tell a refusal from a pending application, which causes you can check yourself, what happens to the fee and what we could not confirm. When the fix is ready, you can apply for your e-visa again.

eVisaVietnam.com is a private visa service operated by TK VIET NAM., JSC, not the Vietnamese government. The decision on an e-visa belongs to the Vietnam Immigration Department, which runs evisa.gov.vn.

Vietnam visa rejected what to do first

Read the notice you received and confirm it is a refusal, not a delay or a warning. Then compare the application with the passport, line by line, before you submit anything new.

A new application costs a new fee, so one more check is cheaper than a second refusal. Open the passport data page, the photo and the entry date, and look for the causes in the next section.

Why a Vietnam e-visa gets rejected

We cannot see the Vietnam Immigration Department's internal reasons, and we found no published list of them. What we can check are the messages evisa.gov.vn shows while you fill in the form, many of which end with "Your application may be rejected."

What the site warns aboutHow to fix it
Photo captured from another sourceTake a new photo with a phone, not a picture of a print or a screen
Portrait and passport photo have a low match rateUse a recent photo that looks like the passport image
No MRZ detected in the passport imageRescan the data page with the two bottom lines in view
Name, date of birth or passport number does not match the passportRe-enter from the passport
Passport valid for less than 6 months from entryRenew the passport first

Our guide to e-visa photo and passport errors lists the messages we copied from the site on October 8, 2026, and the e-visa photo rules cover the file requirements.

Third-party guides list other causes, such as applying while you are in Vietnam. We did not find these in a government document, so we do not treat them as rules.

Rejected or still pending?

An application that is still under review is not rejected. The site gives 3 working days for processing in its FAQ (checked October 2026), so a result after one or two days is normal.

If the e-visa has not arrived after 3 working days, use our e-visa status page. If the application contains an error but has not been refused, e-visa correction may apply instead. A refusal is different, since the e-visa is not issued at all.

How to apply again

Apply again with a new application once the cause is fixed. Do not resubmit unchanged details.

  1. Fix the problem named in the notice, or the one you found when you compared the application with the passport.
  2. Prepare a new photo and a clear passport data page.
  3. Check the entry date, arrival gate and spelling again.
  4. Submit a new application. If your trip is close, choose a faster speed; the table in our full price table shows what each costs.

We found no published waiting period before a new application, and no statement that a refusal has to be appealed. If you leave it to the last day, a second refusal can mean missing your flight, so allow working days for the new application.

Is there a Vietnam visa blacklist?

We found no government source that says a refused e-visa puts you on a blacklist. Some websites claim that it does. None we checked cited a law or a government page, so we do not repeat the claim.

Each application is decided on the data you submit. The e-visa itself is set by Law 23/2023/QH15 (checked October 2026), but we did not find a rule that treats one refused e-visa as a ban on later applications. If you have a past immigration problem, such as an overstay, tell us before you apply, and be accurate in every answer.

What happens to the fee

The government fee is not refunded if the e-visa is refused when you apply on evisa.gov.vn yourself. Through us, you get a 100% refund if the e-visa is refused, unless the application had false information, and the refund covers the whole all-in price, government fee included.

Where you appliedRefused e-visa

Through us100% refund, unless false information

Our refund policy explains how to claim. A refund does not apply when the refusal follows false information on the form.

Before you pay again, ask yourself whether you want help: our team checks the passport and photo before submission. Apply for your e-visa with us.
