How to apply for Vietnam visa from India

You apply for a Vietnam visa from India in five steps with us. A Vietnam visa application from India uses the same form as every other country.

  1. Fill in the form: Enter your passport details, trip dates, entry gate and the speed you want. The price and the delivery time update as you choose.
  2. Pay by card: Pay in US dollars; your bank converts the amount to rupees.
  3. Upload your files: Add the passport data page and the portrait photo. You can upload any time after paying.
  4. We check and submit: A person looks at the photo and scan, and contacts you if a file has a problem, before submitting the application on evisa.gov.vn.
  5. Receive the PDF: The approved e-visa arrives by email. Compare your name and passport number with your passport, and print one copy.

You can also apply yourself on evisa.gov.vn with the same details; our guide on how to apply shows that route screen by screen. You do not need the Vietnam embassy in New Delhi or the consulate in Mumbai for an e-visa. To follow an order with us, use the e-visa status tool.

What to prepare in India

Have these ready before you open the form:

  • An Indian passport: Valid for at least 6 months from your entry date, with two blank pages. Travel with the same passport you list on the application.
  • A data page image: The page with your photo, with all four corners in view and the two code lines at the bottom sharp, without glare.
  • A portrait photo: Recent, facing the camera, white background, no glasses. See the photo requirements for examples.
  • A card and an emergency contact: A debit or credit card enabled for international online payments, and the name, address and phone of a contact.

Many Indian passports show only a surname or only given names. The form tells you what to do: if the passport has only a surname or only given names, enter the name under given names. In both cases copy the name from the two code lines, in capital letters.

When to apply from India

Apply at least two weeks before you fly if you choose Standard, because 5 to 7 working days can stretch over weekends and Vietnamese public holidays. India Standard Time is 1 hour 30 minutes behind Vietnam all year, and neither country changes its clocks, so the conversion never changes.

Your time (IST)Vietnam timeWhat it means
6:308:00The Vietnamese working day starts
12:4414:14Last order for the Same day speed to arrive by 18:00
16:0017:30Last order for Emergency on the same working day

The urgent speeds follow Vietnamese working days, Monday to Friday. An order placed after the last cut-off moves to the next working morning, so check the full table of cut-offs in IST on our guide for Indian citizens and the urgent e-visa page.

Paying for your e-visa from India

You pay in US dollars by debit or credit card, and the price at checkout is the price you pay. Our Standard single-entry e-visa costs $47, about INR 4,546 at 1 USD = 96.71 INR (xe.com, October 8, 2026), with the government fee included; your bank sets the final rupee amount. Our full price table lists every speed.

Before you pay, make sure your card allows international online transactions, since a card limited to Indian merchants will fail. If a payment fails, ask your bank to enable it and retry, rather than starting a second application. Applying on evisa.gov.vn costs US$25 (approx. INR 2,418) for single entry.

Mistakes Indian applicants make

Most delays come from five mistakes:

  • A name entered in the wrong place: On a passport with one name, putting it under the wrong field. Follow the form's instruction and copy the code lines.
  • A card that cannot pay abroad: Check that international transactions are on.
  • A recycled photo: A crop from a passport or a photo of a printed picture is flagged.
  • A cropped passport scan: If the two code lines at the bottom are cut off, the site cannot read the passport.
  • Dates with no margin: Start the validity a day or two before you land; 90 days costs the same as 30.

Only a stay limited to Phu Quoc island is visa-free for Indian citizens; see the Phu Quoc entry rules. For anything else, apply for your e-visa and a person checks your files before they go in.
