What to prepare in the Bahamas
A Vietnam e-visa application from the Bahamas needs four things ready:
- A Bahamian passport: Valid for at least 6 months from your entry date, with two blank pages.
- A data page image: The page with your photo, all four corners in view, and the two code lines at the bottom sharp, without glare.
- A portrait photo: Recent, facing the camera, white background, no glasses. The photo requirements guide shows examples that pass and fail.
- A card and an emergency contact: A card enabled for online payments to a foreign merchant, and the name, address and phone of a contact at home.
Copy your name from the two code lines at the bottom of the data page, in capital letters, including middle names. The form also asks for the address of your first night in Vietnam.
When to apply from the Bahamas
Apply at least two weeks before you fly if you choose Standard, because 5 to 7 working days can stretch over weekends and Vietnamese public holidays. Nassau is 11 to 12 hours behind Vietnam. Nassau changes its clocks, so the gap shifts by an hour twice a year.
| Your time in Nassau | Vietnam time |
|---|---|
| 8:00, summer time | 19:00 |
| 8:00, winter time | 20:00 |
| 12:00, summer time | 23:00 |
| 12:00, winter time | 0:00 the next day |
| 18:00, summer time | 5:00 the next day |
| 18:00, winter time | 6:00 the next day |
| 22:00, summer time | 9:00 the next day |
| 22:00, winter time | 10:00 the next day |
For Same day delivery, order between 21:00 and 3:15 in Nassau in summer time (20:00 and 2:15 in winter), on a day that is a working day in Vietnam. Order in the evening, not the morning. An order placed at 20:00 or 21:00 in Nassau, depending on the season, reaches Vietnam as its working day begins at 8:00. Our guide for Bahamian citizens has the full table of cut-offs, and the urgent e-visa page covers every speed.
Paying for your e-visa from the Bahamas
You pay in US dollars by credit or debit card. A Standard single-entry e-visa costs $47, government fee included.
The Bahamian dollar is pegged one to one to the US dollar (1 USD = 1.00 BSD, xe.com, October 10, 2026), so the price in Bahamian dollars is the same number. See the full price table for every speed.
On evisa.gov.vn the government fee alone is US$25. If a payment fails, check that your card allows online payments to foreign merchants and retry, rather than starting a second application.
Mistakes Bahamian applicants make
The first two points below are specific to Bahamian applicants; the last two apply to everyone.
- Ordering at breakfast: An order placed at 9:00 in Nassau in summer time reaches Vietnam at 20:00, after every urgent cut-off, and starts at 8:00 the next Vietnamese morning.
- Believing a visa-free claim: Some lookup sites say Bahamians enter without a visa, but the Ministry's exemption lists do not include the Bahamas.
- A look-alike website: The government site is evisa.gov.vn. Private services, including ours, say that they are private; leave any site that does not say who runs it.
- A gate you will not use: Choose the airport or border gate you will really enter through, and check the ports of entry list.
If you already filed a faulty application, read about e-visa problems first. Ready? Apply for your e-visa and a person checks your files before they go in.
Frequently Asked Questions
Can I apply for a Vietnam visa online from the Bahamas?
Yes. Bahamian citizens with an ordinary passport apply online for the e-visa, valid for up to 90 days, pay by card and receive a PDF by email.
How early should I apply from the Bahamas?
At least two weeks before you fly at Standard speed. If your flight is closer, choose a faster speed and check the cut-offs in Nassau time on our guide for Bahamian citizens.
Which card works for the e-visa fee?
A debit or credit card enabled for online payments to a foreign merchant. Bahamian dollars equal US dollars one to one, so the amount on your statement matches the price.
When is the best time to order from the Bahamas?
In the evening. Vietnam is 11 or 12 hours ahead of Nassau, so an order at 20:00 or 21:00 reaches Vietnam as its working day starts and keeps every urgent speed open.
Do I need the Vietnam embassy for the e-visa?
No. The e-visa is applied for online and issued as a PDF. Check the list of Vietnamese missions on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs website (mofa.gov.vn) for the one that covers the Bahamas if you need consular help.
